Within the project PROMISE II (01.2028 - 12.2019), supported by the European Commission, "Center Dardedze" continues to improve cooperation mechanisms between law enforcement and social institutions in dealing with children who have suffered sexual abuse.

On November 7 - 9, 2018, at the premises of the Center Dardedze, a training session was held, led by Children's Home of the Island of Barnahus practitioners Margret Kristin Magnusdottir and Paola Cardenas, on questioning children affected by sexual abuse. Within the framework of the training, psychologists from the State Police and Crisis Centers from various regions of Latvia learned the most important topics for their daily work:

  • peculiarities of the child's age and ability to testify;
  • memory peculiarities;
  • the role of the victim's testimony in the case of sexual abuse;
  • questioning techniques;
  • questioning protocols (NCAC, NICHD, etc.);
  • the role and tasks of the interpreter;
  • the course of the questioning;
  • specialist co-operation.
