Within framework of this project, two strategies are being developed with aim to promote safe and child-friendly family environment in Roja, Dobele and Salacgriva municipalities.
In the nearest weeks strategy development regarding interdisciplinary approach towards child protection and violence prevention for each involved municipality will be finished. Developed strategies will be available for other Latvian municipalities as well.
On October 10th municipality and ministry representatives had opportunity to attend seminar led by foreign expert Bragi Gudbrandsson. During seminar expert talked about legal framework of children’s rights and interests in Europe and shared his experience regarding providing child-friendly service for children who have suffered abuse.
Safe and child-friendly organization policy and strategy development in three municipality pre-schools has started in September. It is planned that strategy development and approbation will last till May, 2015.
All together 10 fathers from Roja, Dobele, Kuldiga, Saulkrasti and Riga have acquired program “Fathers are important”. New knowledge will be used to lead father support groups. In Dobele municipality Krimunu parish first father group lessons have been organized and group is open for new participants.
Sargengelis group lessons for new parents are organized in municipalities two times per month. New parents, who want to join Sargengelis group, are kindly invited to search more detailed information in respective municipality’s social service.
Hereafter besides to already initiated activities, a seminar for municipality family doctors is planned. During the seminar will be shared best practice examples how doctors can reduce violence risks in families. It is planned that informative and supportive material for family doctors will be developed.
